Professionally shot commercial images can benefit a company by making them stand out amongst the competition and generate new business. As an alternative, a company could buy stock images from the internet. These can be expensive and are often overused by other companies in the same line of business, as well as not being a true reflection of the business they are supposed to portray or represent.

DIY photography often results in poor quality images, which vary in style and which are shot without consideration for lighting, composition, their usage in a page layout with text etc. It can also be a waste of a company's time and resources.
